Biographien
Huikuan Lin (pipa) graduated from the Art Institute of Fo Guang University, she organizing Chai Found Music Workshop in 1991, and served
as president and pipa performer. Now she also is being a part-time adjunct associate professor of Department of Chinese music
in Chinese Culture University. She specializes in wide cross-border cooperation in pipa, not only has superb playing skills,
but also in cooperation with different styles of composers and performing arts groups. She has cooperation with many performing
groups in United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Vienna, Toronto and other international orchestras. She worked
with modern orchestra includes: Klangforum, Music Lab, EXXJ-Ensemble of the 20 Century, Nieuw Ensemble Amsterdam, NDR Symphony
Orchestra, Ensemble 2e2m, Jack String Quartet, Toronto Accordes String Quartet.
She has participated in the music festival includes: contemporary music festival in Grenoble, France, United Kingdom Huddersfield
Contemporary Music Festival, Berlin Music Festival in March, and Vienna Viktring Modern Music Festival. In 2000, she also
invited by the Legend Lin Dance Theatre to premiered "Flower Gods Memorial Ceremony" and touring in Taipei National Theater
and Lyon Opera Theatre in France. In 2010 she has invited by the famous American composer Coleman (Gene Coleman) to play pipa
at Manhattan "Lotus Music and Dance Centre" (Lotus Music & Dance). In 2011 she has invited by soundstreams in Toronto, Canada
to perform “Ghost Opera” which was write by internationally renowned composers- Tan Dun, and in 2013 started to have a theatrical
tour in Toronto, Taipei and Beijing. In July 2014, she will be invited by Theatre La Condition des Soies to participate Avignon
Art Festival in France, she will show the musical "Who?”. In the December of 2014, she was invited by the University of Vienna
and will conduct a two-year project called "NEW PIPA" to make several lectures and solo concerts; the plan will hosted by
the University of Vienna composer professor and creative a series of new works for Pipa and String Quartet.
Pei-Yun Tsai (di-zi) is the master of research and preservation from Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology, National Taiwan Normal University.
Her performance style across traditional and modern and is committed to promotion and development of bamboo flute music. During
her student period, she try to corporate with different groups in Taiwan and abroad, she got rich performance experiences,
in addition to perform traditional opera songs, she also try to integrate different forms of flute music and combine with
the performance. Because of her rich style of performance, she has been invited to participate in musical activities in Taiwan
and abroad.
Her performance footprint across five continents also has been invited to Toronto, Vancouver, New Brunswick, New York,
Chicago, Philadelphia, Texas, Boston, Washington, St. Louis, Rhode Island, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, tower City, San Jose,
San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Sydney, Melbourne, London, England, Paris, France, Germany, Africa, Burkina Faso, Akita,
Japan, Bangkok, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and other places to participate in the concert performances. She has
participated in the music festival includes: Download Festival (England), Tazawako Music Festival (Japan), Sound Streams Festival
(Toronto).
Das Pacific Quartet Vienna wurde 2006 als multinationales Streichquartett an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien gegründet. Das in
Zürich und Wien lebende Ensemble blickt auf eine rege Konzerttätigkeit in Europa und Asien zurück. Besondere Akzente setzt
das Quartett durch seine interkulturellen Projekte sowie Kunstsparten übergreifende Programmgestaltung. So entwickelte das
PQV in den letzten Jahren im Rahmen von Tourneen diverse Kulturaustauschprogramme zwischen Japan, Taiwan, Österreich und der
Schweiz. Im Zentrum stehen dabei aktuell Kinderkonzerte („Die klingenden Märchen“), Jugendkonzerte („Komponistenportraits“),klassische
Konzertprogramme mit Schwerpunkt auf der ersten und zweiten Wiener Schule sowie Arbeit mit jungen Komponisten aus den jeweiligen
Ländern. Eine eigene Konzertreihe in Zürich sowie die Pflege eines breit abgestützten Freundeskreises in Vereinsform runden
die Tätigkeit des PQV ab.
2015 gewann das PQV den 1. Preis, Publikumspreis und Preis für die beste Interpretation eines Werkes von Joseph Haydn
am 6. Internationalen Joseph Haydn Kammermusikwettbewerb in Wien. Weitere Preise erspielte sich das Quartett in den Jahren
davor beim Marco Fiorindo International Chamber Music Competition und Josef Windisch Kammermusik-Wettbewerbs. Nebst Auftritten
in Festivals wie dem Lucerne Festival, dem Kalkalpenfestival, dem Niksic International Festival of Chamber Music oder dem
Liliefelder Sommerfestival konzertierte das PQV in renommierten europäischen Konzertstätten wie dem Wiener Musikverein und
dem Konzerthaus sowie in der Oji Hall Tokyo und der Minato Mirai Hall Yokohama.
Seit Oktober 2013 ist das PQV Mitglied der European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) und rundet aktuell seine Kammermusikstudien
bei Rainer Schmidt an der Musikakademie Basel ab.
